How does the introduction and epigraphs play a vital role in establishing the primary themes of Wolff's memoir, but more importantly, how do they give the reader a sense of Wolff's morality and Toby's lack of identity?

How does Toby’s lust for distinction in respectable forms lead to his wrong-doing as in forging checks?

In the years discussed in 'Fortune' does Toby/Jack become more or less powerful?

All I have is one word: 'Wow'

These are great questions so far--Mr. Rosa and Mr. Barrett, thank you.

Both questions have me reeling in thought--I want to write answers to them both, but I have to make dinner instead...I think I might rather answer the questions, maybe later if I have time.

Great questions--keep them coming.

My thanks, gratitude, and appreciation,
AK

How does the turbulent, drunk ride relate to Toby’s desired new life/home with Dwight?

How does being uncool make Toby/Jack's outlook on how he is supposed to act a negative one?

Question: Why and how does Toby escape the lady who owns the store by putting on his Boy Scout uniform, and how is his Boy Scout uniform an escape from his reality?

Why do Toby, Terry, and Silver think that they are 'uncool' and how do they try to make themselves cool?

How does Dwight come close to striking the same pose as Toby in a different way and when/how will Dwight strike his own pose in the book?

How does singing play a vital role in this section of the chapter? How and when does Toby "sing for his life"?

By the end of Fortune, has the rifle really helped Toby give himself any sort of identity?

When Dwight makes Toby join the boy scouts, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Does this help Toby's character now that he has a goal to strive for?
